Function

The sequential control for the various functions of each casting floor drive, strand drive and the discharge drives shall be provided by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). The various functions to be performed by this PLC system include, in general: Digital input treatment (pushbuttons, selector switches, limit and proximity switches, level switches, temperature switches, pressure switches, flow switches, AC drive signals, alarm signals) Digital output treatment (indication lamps, indicators, AC drive commands, solenoid valve commands) Analog to digital conversion and treatment (level signals, temperature transmitters, flow transmitters, motorized valve positions, variable drive speeds) Motor and drives start/stop logic Manual mode movements of casting, strand and discharge equipment Automatic mode movements of casting, strand and discharge equipment Automatic sequence logic Interlocking of individual items and interrelated equipment for safe and reliable operation Control and regulation of variable drive speeds, water flows depending on casting conditions Monitoring of "Ready to Cast" Conditions Alarm signalization |
